Approved by the Supreme People's Court, the criminal Gao Chengyong was executed Thursday morning. The procuratorate sent personnel to supervise on the spot, according to the official Weibo of the Intermediate People's Court of Baiyin City in Northwest China's Gansu Province.

Gao committed robbery, intentional homicide, rape and corpse desecration in Baiyin City, Gansu Province, and Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, between May 1988 and February 2002, resulting in the death of 11 female victims.
The case is difficult and complicated, causing a huge social impact and high public concerns.
The Intermediate People’s Court of Baiyin City conducted a private hearing on the case from July 18 to 19 in 2017. The court listened to the opinions of both the prosecution and the defense, and conducted a careful review and researched the factual evidence and the law application.
The court publicly pronounced the verdict on March 30, 2018, and found that the defendant Gao Chengyong committed crimes of robbery, intentional homicide, rape and corpse desecration and sentenced him to death. There were no appeals or protests within the statutory time limit.
After reviewing the case, the Higher People's Court of Gansu Province agreed to the original judgment and submitted it to the Supreme People's Court for approval. The Supreme People's Court reviewed the case in accordance with the law, interrogated the defendant, and ruled recently that Gao Chengyong was sentenced to death.
