Chinese mainland reports 96 new confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland reported 96 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, 71 locally transmitted and 25 imported, the National Health Commission said on Wednesday.

Of local cases, 35 were detected in Jiangsu, 15 in Hunan, nine in Hubei, six in Shandong, three in Yunnan, two in Henan and one in Fujian.

Of new imported cases, seven were detected in Yunnan, four in Fujian, three in Jiangsu, two each in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong and one each in Tianjin, Shanxi, Liaoning, Henan and Sichuan, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

A total of 87,413 cases had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 1,240 remained hospitalized, including 21 in severe conditions, the commission said.
