The Chinese mainland reported 119 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 86 domestically transmitted and 33 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 507 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 435 locally transmitted and 72 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 1,796 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 25 in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 119 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 229,185 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
