Chinese mainland reports 1,405 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 1,366 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland reported 1,405 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 1,366 domestically transmitted and 39 imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Monday.

Of the new local cases, 836 were reported in Jilin, 425 in Shanghai, 16 in Fujian, 15 in Heilongjiang, ten each in Jiangsu and Sichuan, eight in Zhejiang, seven in Qinghai, six each in Shandong and Hainan, five in Guangdong, four each in Shanxi, Anhui and Jiangxi, three in Hebei, two each in Henan and Guizhou, and one each in Beijing, Hunan and Shaanxi, the commission said.

There were 25,724 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with 54 in critical conditions. The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 156,143, with the death toll standing at 4,638.

Across the mainland, Sunday saw 11,862 new asymptomatic cases. Sunday also saw 1,848 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, according to the commission.
