Latin American and Caribbean ambassadors discuss China's path to modernization

The 3rd Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors Convention kicked off on April 28 in Beijing, aiming to develop cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries.

The event, themed "High-Quality Development and Chinese Path to Modernization," attracted over 30 diplomatic envoys and representatives from 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Wang Xiqin, president of Tsinghua University, said that the university values the importance of global cooperation with trusted partners.

Fernando Lugris, ambassador of Uruguay to China, also expressed his desire for further exploration of university collaboration models by both sides.

Liang Yu, former Chinese ambassador to Peru, stressed China's firm support for LAC countries in exploring their own modernization paths, and its will to strengthen cooperation with them in various fields through platforms like the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative.

A keynote speech was delivered by Bai Chong'en, dean of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University.

During the round table discussion, ambassadors and diplomatic envoys from LAC countries had positive exchanges with Bai on what they learned from China's development experience.

The event was hosted by Tsinghua University with participation of nearly 100 faculty and students.
