China opposes the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

"We have repeatedly stated our solemn position of firmly opposing Speaker Pelosi's visit to Taiwan," said ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian at a press briefing in Beijing.

"If the US persists and challenges China's bottom line, it will surely face firm countermeasures and bear all the consequences arising therefrom."
