Commenting on the recent study revealing coronavirus antibodies detected in blood samples taken from Italian residents in September 2019, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said it once again proves that tracing the origins of the virus is a complex scientific issue, and should be researched by scientists through global cooperation.

Tracing the origin of the virus is an ongoing process, and may involve many countries, Zhao said. “China hopes that all countries will take positive measures and strengthen cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO). China will also actively work with the international community to contribute to the global traceability of the virus,” Zhao said.
