Chinese mainland reports 106 new local COVID-19 cases, 549 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 172 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 106 domestically transmitted and 66 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 648 asymptomatic infections on Friday, including 549 locally transmitted and 99 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 2,909 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 31 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 232 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 250,621 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
