China's Foreign Ministry has directed its nationals to stay away from the Democratic Republic of the Congo's three restive northeast provinces following an attack on a gold mine on Friday in which local media reported four people were killed, including two Chinese citizens.

The ministry also urged the DRC government to ensure the safety of all Chinese citizens presently in that country.
