Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to the UN chief's recent call to the international community to help African countries cope with climate change.

"China is not only sincere in helping African countries cope with climate change, but also committed to keeping its promises, and taking practical actions in addressing global climate change," said Mao.

She stressed that China has been actively promoting green and low-carbon development, and remains committed to meeting the "dual carbon" goals.

"We have taken a constructive part in the multilateral process on climate change and made historic contributions to the conclusion and implementation of the Paris Agreement," she said. "China's efforts have injected strong impetus into the global fight against climate change."
