The Niger-China relationship has been restored and developed rapidly since the resumption of diplomatic ties in 1996. Our two countries have signed a trade agreement and established a joint economic and trade commission.
Over these years, Niger and China have seen sound and growing cooperation. Niger highly appreciates China’s efforts for enhancing our fruitful and friendly relations. As China’s assistance to Niger has increased and our cooperation has expanded since 2000, the bilateral cooperation has ushered in an era of great vitality. Our exemplary cooperation covers such areas as water conservancy, hydropower, environmental protection, agriculture, health care, national defense, education, infrastructure, equipment and energy, mineral exploration, oil exploitation, and so on.
Now China has become Niger’s top cooperation partner in investment. This promises great opportunities for our two countries as Niger boasts a vast territory and abundant mineral resources while China enjoys sound economic development and advanced science and technologies. Therefore, we hope to cooperate more closely with China, and we can learn from China’s experience in formulating our own economic and social development plans.
Niger and China are closely connected with each other thanks to our friendly relations and firm win-win cooperation. As the Ambassador of Niger to China, I am truly delighted with the cooperation opportunities between our two countries.
