Chinese mainland reports 49 new local COVID-19 cases, 271 local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 100 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 49 domestically transmitted and 51 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 348 asymptomatic infections on Thursday, including 271 locally transmitted and 77 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 1,755 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 11 in critical condition.

Thursday also saw 99 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 229,394 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
