The Chinese mainland reported 188 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 129 domestically transmitted and 59 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 730 asymptomatic infections on Friday, including 624 locally transmitted and 106 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 3,040 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 28 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 206 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 249,172 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
