In order to protect fishery resources and the ecological environment, a midsummer fishing moratorium has been adopted in China. Starting from May 1 each year, all fishermen in the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the South China Sea north of 12 degrees north latitude are required to stay ashore.
