China has lifted nearly 800 million people out of poverty over the past 40 years as per the World Bank's global absolute poverty standard of $1.90 per person per day, said a joint report issued by China's Ministry of Finance, the Development Research Center of the State Council, and the World Bank on Thursday.
The number accounts for over 75 percent of people lifted out of poverty worldwide over the same period, according to the report.
