The Chinese mainland reported 170 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 106 domestically transmitted and 64 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 629 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 526 locally transmitted and 103 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 2,997 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 41 in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 164 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 250,293 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
