The Chinese mainland reported 682 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 614 domestically transmitted and 68 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Thursday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 2,888 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, including 2,810 locally transmitted and 78 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 7,412 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Wednesday, with 22 in critical condition.

Wednesday also saw 114 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 237,580 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
