Chinese mainland reports 1,410 new local COVID-19 cases, 47 new deaths

The Chinese mainland reported 1,424 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 1,410 domestically transmitted and 14 imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Saturday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 9,369 asymptomatic infections, including 9,293 locally transmitted and 76 imported on Friday, the National Health Commission said.

47 new deaths were reported on Friday, all in Shanghai. The city reported 1,249 new local confirmed cases and 8,932 local asymptomatic infections.

There were 26,567 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Friday, with 458 in critical condition.

Friday also saw 3,127 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission said.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 215,667, and the death toll stood at 5,022.
