Chinese mainland reports 1,254 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 1,217 locally transmitted

The Chinese mainland reported 1,254 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, including 1,217 domestically transmitted and 37 imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday.

Of the new local cases, 1,071 were reported in Jilin, 47 in Shanghai, 28 in Liaoning, 16 in Tianjin, 14 in Henan, 10 in Hebei, eight in Heilongjiang, five in Shandong, four in Hunan, two each in Anhui, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Gansu, one each in Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Yunnan and Shaanxi, the commission said.

Among the imported cases, 12 were reported in Sichuan, eight in Guangdong, seven in Guangxi, six in Shanghai, one each in Beijing, Tianjin, Zhejiang and Hunan, the commission added.

There were 27,567 active cases on Chinese mainland as of Saturday, with 53 in critical conditions. No deaths related to the disease were reported.

Saturday also saw 999 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, according to the commission.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 143,240, with the death toll stood at 4,638.
