To complete the rural-pass highway of Abu Lo Ha Village, Butuo County, South China’s Sichuan Province, which is also the last rural-pass highway in the Daliang Mountain, a Mil Mi-26 heavy transport helicopter was used to carry haul excavators, loaders and down-hole drills to the village, which were used for the road construction program.

Located in the Xixi River Valley near the Jinsha River, the Abu Lo Ha Village is surrounded by mountains and rivers. At present, there is only one rugged road alongside the mountain cliff which connects the village to Wuyi county. It takes about four hours to walk along the road. Daily necessities and goods are carried by horses.

To break the transportation bottleneck that impedes the poverty elimination of the village, the local government decided to build a 3.8-kilometer rural-pass highway. The highway is the last of its kind in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The construction must overcome high mountains, valleys, and ever-changing weather conditions.
