The Chinese mainland reported 84 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 33 domestically transmitted and 51 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Monday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 309 asymptomatic infections on Sunday, including 244 locally transmitted and 65 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 1,678 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Sunday, with four in critical condition.

Sunday also saw 137 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 229,594 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
