CHANGCHUN, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Jilin Province has managed to stem the progression of the recent resurgence in COVID-19 infections, but the risk level remains high, a local health official said Friday.

Jilin logged more than 2,000 local confirmed or asymptomatic cases on Thursday, according to the provincial health commission.

Zhang Li, deputy director of the commission, said that strict prevention and control measures have managed to contain the spread of infections, but the epidemic situation is still at a high level of risk due to a large number of infected people in the early stage.

Zhang added that nucleic acid testing and effective quarantine measures are still needed to further contain the spread of the virus.
