Chinese mainland reports 498 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases, 2,221 new local asymptomatic infections

The Chinese mainland reported 547 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, including 498 domestically transmitted and 49 imported, data from the National Health Commission showed on Tuesday.

The Chinese mainland also reported 2,331 asymptomatic infections on Monday, including 2,221 locally transmitted and 110 imported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 4,638 active cases on the Chinese mainland as of Monday, with 24 in critical condition.

Monday also saw 187 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals, the commission added.

The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stood at 260,506 and the death toll stood at 5,226.
