China said Tuesday that sound and stable development of China-Canada relations serves the common interests of both countries and contributes to global peace, stability, development and prosperity.

China's position on developing China-Canada relations is consistent and clear, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks during a routine press briefing in Beijing.

"China is willing to work with Canada in a spirit of responsibility toward history, the people and the world to advance the construction of a new strategic partnership between China and Canada, steer bilateral relations onto a track of healthy, stable and sustainable development, and better benefit the peoples of both nations," Guo said.
