China said on Friday it hopes that national stability can be maintained in Iran and urges all parties to cherish peace.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks in Beijing during a routine press briefing when asked about US President Donald Trump's statement that the US has a "massive" naval force heading toward Iran.

"China hopes all parties cherish peace, exercise restraint and resolve differences through dialogue," said Guo.
