The spokesperson made the remarks at a routine press conference in Beijing in response to a question asking what measures China will take following the Panamanian Supreme Court's ruling limiting the operating rights of ports at both ends of the Panama Canal held by CK Hutchison Holdings and whether China can communicate with Panama on future operations.
China has repeatedly stated its stance on issues related to the relevant ports in Panama, Lin said.
He stressed that an article, recently published by the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, pointed out that the relevant ruling by Panama's Supreme Court disregards facts, violates the principle of good faith, and severely harms the legitimate rights and interests of China's Hong Kong enterprises.
It also stressed that the Chinese government will firmly safeguard the lawful and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, Lin said.
