China called for safeguarding an open, inclusive and universally beneficial international trade environment and opposes rules by "exclusive blocs" that undermine the international economic and trade order, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks during a regular press conference in response to a question regarding the so-called "critical minerals trading alliance" formed by the US.

Lin said that maintaining an open, inclusive and universally beneficial international trade environment serves the common interests of all countries, and that all parties have a responsibility to play a constructive role in safeguarding the stability and security of global production and supply chains for critical minerals.

China opposes any country disrupting the international economic and trade order through rules made by exclusive blocs they set up, Lin said.
