The building of a new strategic partnership between China and Canada is not directed against any third party, China's foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks during a routine press briefing in Beijing after US President Donald Trump commented on bilateral cooperation between Beijing and Ottawa.

"The building of a new strategic partnership between China and Canada embodies the spirit of equality and mutual respect, openness and inclusiveness, peaceful cooperation, and shared benefits and win-win outcomes," Lin said.
"The partnership does not target any third party," the spokesperson stressed.
"It serves the common interests of the peoples of both countries and contributes to peace, stability, development and prosperity worldwide."
