Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a routine press briefing in Beijing, responding to reports that the Barbados Labour Party won all 30 seats in the House of Assembly on Thursday.

Lin Jian congratulated Mottley on her victory, noting that Barbados was an important partner for China in the Caribbean.

"Over the past 49 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Barbados relations have enjoyed sound and steady development," Lin said. "China stands ready to work with Barbados to further deepen practical cooperation in various fields and elevate the traditional friendly relations between the two countries to a new level."
