The People's Government of Ciba town in Jia county, Pingdingshan, Central China's Henan Province, released an official statement on Saturday in response to online reports that a 15-year-old girl had been beaten in the street, according to xinhuanet.com.

According to the statement, at 7:40 pm on Thursday, a quarrel broke out between Yang and Ding after their electric two-wheeled vehicles collided in Ciba town. After Yang's son, Liu, and daughter-in-law, Han, arrived at the scene, they verbally abused and physically assaulted Ding's accompanying sister and three other individuals.

Police have since placed Liu and Han under criminal compulsory measures, and the case is currently under further investigation, the statement added.

Earlier on Saturday, High Wind News, a media account under Chinese Business View, an outlet based in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, reported that some netizens with Henan IP addresses had posted accounts of an incident allegedly triggered by a collision between two electric scooters, in which a man knocked a girl to the ground and repeatedly slapped her in the face with a slipper.

Video footage shows as a girl wearing gray walked toward the roadside, a man grabbed her by the hair and forced her to the ground. He then picked up a slipper that had come off his foot and struck her in the face, while a woman in black who was with him kicked her. The man later dragged the girl in gray to the ground again and slapped her in the face four more times with the slipper.

According to the report, the 15-year-old girl was taken to the Jia County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for treatment after the incident.
