China's Spring Festival continued to gain popularity across the globe this year, with diverse celebrations held in various parts of the world. Inbound tourist arrivals to China during the Spring Festival holidays doubled year on year, and flight bookings by foreign tourists surged by more than 400 percent compared with the same period in 2025.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press conference on Tuesday when asked to comment on the festival's growing global appeal.

Mao noted that the Year of the Horse Spring Festival featured a nine-day holiday, bringing joy, harmony, and festive cheer across China. Many foreign friends came to China to visit temple fairs, make dumplings, write Spring Festival couplets and experience a "digital Spring Festival" that combined tradition and technology. This allowed them to immerse themselves in the Chinese way of life and gain an understanding of a culture that values harmony and inclusiveness.

"The Spring Festival is not only a traditional Chinese festival, but also a globally shared cultural event," Mao added. The joyful and festive spirit of the Year of the Horse Spring Festival heralds China's steady progress and prosperous future, while also bringing boundless vitality and energy to the world.
