Commenting on safety alert issued by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico after the recent violent incidents in Mexico, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that we are closely monitoring the situation in Mexico and so far, we have not received any information about Chinese citizens being injured.

"We hope that the Mexican side will take practical and effective measures to protect the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions in Mexico."

Chinese Embassy in Mexico reminded Chinese citizens in the country to stay alert to local security situation on Monday, following violent clashes erupting across Mexico after death of drug lord Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho."
