China on Wednesday called on the international community to firmly reject the reckless moves of Japanese neo-militarism.

Due to its history of aggression, Japan's military and security moves have long been closely watched by its Asian neighbors and the international community, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning stated at a routine press conference in Beijing when asked about Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party's recent proposal to ease restrictions on arms exports.

In recent years, Japan has largely adjusted its security policy. Some Japanese politicians have even openly clamored for the country to possess nuclear weapons, sought to revise the Three Non-Nuclear Principles and lift the ban on arms exports, Mao noted.

These once again expose the ambition of Japan's right-wing forces to break free from the constraints of the post-war international order and domestic laws and pursue "remilitarization," Mao added.

Mao said the international community should remain highly vigilant and work together to uphold the outcomes of the victory of World War II and the post-war international order.
