China stated on Friday that it is unfair, unreasonable and unfeasible for the US to demand that China join so-called trilateral nuclear disarmament negotiations involving China, the US, and Russia.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to an inquiry about the recent demand made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that China join a nuclear control deal with the US and Russia.
Mao said that China has repeatedly elaborated its position on this issue, which is that the US should earnestly fulfill its special and primary responsibilities in nuclear disarmament as a country with a massive nuclear arsenal. She emphasized that this is also the broad consensus of the international community.
China's nuclear force is not in the same league as that of the US and Russia, said Mao. "It is unfair, unreasonable and unfeasible to demand China participate in so-called trilateral nuclear disarmament talks at this current stage," she added.
