The official Weibo Community Observer account issued a notice on Friday stating that the personal account of Xiaopa, a stand-up comedian, had posted content inciting gender antagonism and fueling marriage and childbirth anxiety. For violating relevant laws and regulations, the account was ordered to be suspended, and the platform executed the suspension order.
According to the example cited in the notice, the user named "Xiaopa Does Not Welcome Work Guidance" posted on Weibo on February 5: "I've been lying at home with a fever for two days. If I had a husband and children, I'd probably have to hold onto the wall to get up and cook for them by now."
In accordance with requirements of the Cyberspace Administration of China's special campaign to create a festive and orderly online environment for the 2026 Spring Festival, the content maliciously incited negative emotions, promoted and advocated unhealthy values such as opposing marriage and childbearing, fueled gender antagonism, and amplified "fear of marriage" and "anxiety about childbirth," according to the Weibo Community Observer notice.
The platform also called on all users to avoid deliberately framing public discussions around gender antagonism, refrain from fostering group hatred, and not to cultivate online personas that incite conflict. It said this would help safeguard users' creative safety while maintaining a clear and orderly online environment, urging everyone to reject gender antagonism.
Xiaopa, born on April 15, 1992, is a stand-up comedian. She gained a large following after appearing on "Stand-Up Comedy and Friends Season 2" in June 2025 and the podcast program "Flower on the Rock," according to Guangming Online.
