Guo made the remarks at a regular press briefing in Beijing when responding to a question regarding China's relations with countries in the region.
He noted that nations in Latin America and the Caribbean are sovereign independent countries. As such, they are fully entitled to decide their own development strategies and select partners for cooperation based on their own interests.
China has always adhered to the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, openness and inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation in carrying out exchanges and cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries in various fields., he said.
China-Latin America cooperation is not driven by geopolitical maneuvering, does not target any third party, and should not be disrupted by external interference, Guo said.
