As China's annual legislative and political consultative meetings, known as the "Two Sessions," are underway in Beijing, foreign media outlets and journalists are closely following the event for signals about the development trajectory of the world's second-largest economy and its global implications.
They describe the gathering – during which the draft outline of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) for national economic and social development is being reviewed – as a crucial window into the country's policy direction and a source of stability in an increasingly uncertain world.
A reporter from Russia Today (RT) said the Two Sessions serve as a barometer for understanding China's economy, noting that China's economic development not only concerns the country itself but also has a significant impact on the global economy.
Saying it is her first time covering the event, the Russian journalist added that she is paying attention to a wide range of topics, from economic policy to technological innovation, green development, and artificial intelligence.
"China is one of the largest countries in the world. Everybody wants to know what is happening here and what policies will be adopted," said Daouda Bitie, Burkina Faso's ambassador to China. "That's why the Two Sessions attract so much attention."
Tania Georgieva Glouhtcheva, head of the international department of Bulgaria's Duma newspaper, told CMG that she came this year to focus on China's upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan.
China has already demonstrated that such long-term planning enables the country to achieve rapid and large-scale development, she said.

Ruslan Kenzhaev, deputy editor-in-chief of Uzbekistan's leading newspaper Narodnoe Slovo, said he expects China's further opening up under the 15th Five-Year Plan to bring more opportunities.
Noting that trade between Central Asia and China exceeded $100 billion for the first time in 2025, Kenzhaev said he believes China's continued development will create enormous opportunities for Central Asian countries.
A reporter with China-Arab TV also spoke highly of the upcoming plan in an interview with CMG.
The plan will help more goods from other regions enter the Chinese market, the reporter said, adding that he believes this will lead to more cooperation and support global economic growth.
Several international media outlets have also highlighted the global significance of China's development.
Kazinform, Kazakhstan's international news agency, noted that the next five years will be a critical period for China's high-quality development.
Meanwhile, BRICS TV's Africa channel reported that China's economic policies are closely linked with the development prospects of countries in the Global South.
Together, these voices reflect growing global attention to China's policy direction and development trajectory, with many observers viewing the country's progress as creating new opportunities for the world.
