China is maintaining communication with all relevant parties on the Iran issue, foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference on Wednesday concerning China's mediation efforts regarding the situation in Iran.

Guo revealed that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently spoke with his Israeli counterpart. He also noted that the special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issue is currently making shuttle-diplomacy trips across the region.

"Our goal is to immediately promote a ceasefire, bring relevant parties back to the track of dialogue and negotiation, and prevent further escalation of the situation," Guo stated.
