China on Monday congratulated Kazakhstan on the successful holding of a nationwide referendum on constitutional amendments.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked to comment on the referendum held in Kazakhstan on Sunday.
As a friendly neighbor and a permanent comprehensive strategic partner, China is pleased to see Kazakhstan maintain long-term stability and achieve social development and prosperity, Lin said.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan will advance its national development.
China attaches great importance to the development of relations with Kazakhstan and is ready to work with Kazakhstan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen all-round mutually beneficial cooperation, and take bilateral ties to new heights, Lin added.
