China will provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq in the hope of alleviating the humanitarian predicaments in these countries, China said on Tuesday.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular press conference in Beijing.

"The ongoing conflict has inflicted severe humanitarian disasters on the people of Iran and other countries in the region. China deeply sympathizes with people in the relevant countries and our hearts go out to them," said Lin.

China will continue to make every effort to promote peace and a ceasefire, facilitate the early restoration of regional peace and stability, and prevent the humanitarian crisis from spreading, he said.
