China on Friday urged all parties to ensure a stable and unimpeded energy supply, a foreign ministry spokesperson said Friday.

Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a routine press conference when commenting on the current global oil market situation, including remarks by the US Secretary of the Treasury that the US may lift sanctions on Iranian oil.
"Energy security is crucial to the global economy," the spokesperson said.
Lin said that China has consistently opposed illegal unilateral sanctions and is deeply concerned about the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
"All sides should immediately halt military operations, prevent further escalation, and avoid greater regional turmoil that could deal a heavier blow to global economic development," Lin said.
