Thanks to local restoration efforts, fireflies are illuminating the spring nights in Qingshen County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, this April, attracting visitors with their stunning natural displays.

Their soft, flickering glow has become a major attraction for tourists.

Often seen as signs of a healthy environment, fireflies thrive in clean and well-maintained ecosystems. Local efforts in habitat restoration and pollution control have helped Qingshen protect these fragile insects, including several rare and endangered species, allowing their previously scarce populations to grow.

So far, 53 firefly habitats and 12 species have been documented in the county, highlighting the county's rich ecological diversity.
