SHENZHEN, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Xu Jiayin, former chairman of China's property developer Evergrande Group, stood trial in Shenzhen on a range of crime charges, a local court said Tuesday.

The Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court held public trials from Monday to Tuesday, during which Xu pleaded guilty and expressed remorse.
He was charged with offenses including illegally absorbing public deposits, fraudulent fundraising and illegally granting loans.
Prosecutors also accused Evergrande Group and Evergrande Real Estate Group of multiple offenses, including fraudulent issuance of securities.
The verdict will be announced at a later date.
