China said on Tuesday that it will support the overseas growth of domestic brands, citing innovation and market strength as it seeks to boost international cooperation and add momentum to the global economy.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a routine press briefing in Beijing in response to reports that a growing number of Chinese brands are expanding abroad.
Foreign media have reported that companies including tea chains, hotpot restaurants and sports brands are entering a new phase of international expansion, gaining popularity among overseas consumers through technology, original design, efficient supply chains and localized services, a reporter said.

Lin said China is upgrading "Made in China" through strong innovation capacity, market vitality and cultural appeal, while embracing global markets through openness and cooperation.
"As representatives of high-quality Chinese products, Chinese brands serve as a vivid testament to how China's development benefits the world," he said. "China will continue to share high-quality development opportunities with all parties, advance the global expansion of more Chinese brands, build more bridges for exchanges between China and other countries, and inject stronger impetus into the global economy."
