The DPP has only itself to blame and has brought this embarrassment upon itself, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday in response to a question about Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te being denied entry during a planned overseas trip.
The one-China principle reflects the will of the people, the prevailing trend of the times, and the greater cause of justice. Any attempt to challenge this principle in the international community is bound to meet with setbacks, Chen said.
After the DPP authorities' attempt to seek a so-called "diplomatic breakthrough" through an overseas visit was rejected by relevant countries, they not only failed to reflect on their actions but also openly distorted facts and fabricated a so-called "victim narrative" to mislead people on the island, the spokesperson said, adding that the DPP has only itself to blame and has brought the embarrassment upon itself.
