Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular press conference when asked to comment on Lai Ching-te's visit to Eswatini, which drew criticism from both the international community and Taiwan residents.

Lin said that Lai's secret visit has once again demonstrated that "Taiwan independence" separatist activities are not tolerated by the international community and are nothing more than political farce and scandals.

The international consensus on the one-China principle has been repeatedly demonstrated as firm and unshakable, Lin noted. He added that "Taiwan independence" separatism has no way forward. "We urge 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces to abandon their illusions and return to the correct path at an early date," Lin concluded.
