The Chinese mainland will not allow die-hard "Taiwan independence" secessionists or their relatives to invest in or profit from business activities on the mainland, a spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to a media query regarding a company linked to Yen Wen-chun, nephew of die-hard secessionist Liu Shih-fang.

The company issued a statement a day earlier to announce the removal of Yen from all positions in both its Taiwan headquarters and mainland branches.

"We will not allow Taiwan individuals who support secessionism and damage cross-Strait relations to make money on the mainland on one hand, while backing secessionist activities on the other hand," Chen said.

He stressed that these measures target only a few secessionists and do not affect the majority of people or businesses in Taiwan.

He reiterated that the mainland will continue to welcome and support Taiwan residents and enterprises seeking to develop on the mainland, sharing opportunities arising from Chinese modernization and enhancing their sense of well-being and fulfillment.
