Graphics: China-Tajikistan cooperation continues to strengthen

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is paying a state visit to China from May 11 to 14, which marks the latest chapter in the enduring diplomatic relationship between China and Tajikistan.

The two countries established formal diplomatic relations on January 4, 1992. They officially developed a strategic partnership in 2013, which was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2017. In 2023, the two sides announced the building of a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future featuring everlasting friendship, solidarity and mutual benefit. In 2024, the two countries elevated their ties to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era.

China-Tajikistan economic and trade cooperation has developed rapidly in recent years. According to Chinese statistics, bilateral trade volume reached $4.31 billion in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 11.7%, of which China's exports to Tajikistan stood at $3.75 billion.
