China is willing to work with the US in the same direction to realize a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a routine press briefing in Beijing.

"On the morning of May 14, President Xi Jinping held talks with visiting US President Donald Trump in Beijing, during which they agreed on a new vision of building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability," Guo said. "This will provide strategic guidance for China-US relations over the next three years and beyond."

"Constructive strategic stability" means positive stability with cooperation as the mainstay, healthy stability with competition within proper limits, constant stability with manageable differences and lasting stability with expectable peace, he said.

“China is willing to work with the US in the same direction to operationalize the new version of biliteral ties and jointly move for the steady, healthy and sustainable development of China-US relations,” the ministry spokesperson said.
