The inauguration ceremony for the Chinese delegation to the 2026 FISU World University Championship Cycling was held on Friday at Peking University in Beijing.
The 2026 FISU World University Championship Cycling will take place in Chongli, Zhangjiakou in North China's Hebei Province, from June 25 to June 29. Student-athletes from around the world will compete across 15 events in three disciplines, including five new team exhibition events that will serve as a testing ground for potential inclusion in future FISU championships.

To prepare for the championship, the China Student Sports Federation(CSSF) Cycling Branch organized two rounds of national selection camps earlier this year. Trials for mountain biking, road cycling, and criterium racing were held in the provinces of Yunnan and Hainan in March. Coaches and athletes from universities nationwide participated in the selection process, undergoing comprehensive evaluations across multiple disciplines and racing conditions as the national team gradually took shape.
During the ceremony, team captains shared their motivations. Yang Huiying, a dental graduate student at Peking University, noted that medicine and endurance sports both require focus under pressure and consistent, long-term effort. Wang Wenjia, a fashion design student, explained that the team kit, "Dragon Soaring, Cloud Riding," blends Eastern aesthetics with competitive speed, reflecting the sharp determination of Chinese university riders on the global stage.
The official formation of the Chinese student-athlete delegation marks the final phase of preparations for the 2026 FISU World University Championship Cycling. Beyond the competition itself, the event serves as a premier showcase for the development of university sports in China and Chongli's image as a top-tier outdoor sports destination. As the host nation, China is ready to welcome student-athletes from around the world, highlighting both international sportsmanship and the dynamic energy of its university students.
